Seems to work ok, but may be slightly slower, and requires an older GP. Putting the mem card into my older goPro, and using that to do the xfer. If anyone has a better solution please let me know. (Previously, I would plug in the GP, start the xfer, then leave it doing it's thing whilst I worked on something else. Quik then recognises the card is from a Hero10, and allows image download directly from the card reader. I've tried several different options, but the one that works best for me is (as others have mentioned) to remove the memory card, and use a card reader. I had been using the Quik for Windows Desktop app as that was what I used on my older cameras, (Hero 3, 4, 6, etc) but when I plug in my Hero 10, it just gives me a blank camera window.
